Polyethylene Pipe Fusion Training, Vinilon Introduces the Electrofusion Method

As a form of commitment to provide the best service to customers, Vinilon Group, through its subsidiary, PT Nawa Wisnu Perkasa, in collaboration with PAM Jaya, held a Competency Training for two days on February 26–27, 2024, at the PAM Jaya Training Building.

The training with the theme of Polyethylene Pipe Fusion, commonly known as PE Pipes, was attended by operators and project supervisors from PT Bestindo Putra Mandiri and PT PAM Jaya. Meanwhile, the training materials were presented by Ihsan Mahdi, Product Specialist at Vinilon Group. This activity aims to introduce the technique of PE pipe fusion for household connections using the Electrofusion method.

Electrofusion is a simple method for joining PE pipes in situations where butt fusion cannot be performed, such as when valves, elbows, and tees need to be added. The system used for electrofusion jointing is equipped with built-in heating connected to a device for automatic melting, allowing the utilization of electrical current to heat the pipe and fuse it with another pipe.

This Competency Training Center (LPK) uses SKKNI No. 29 of 2021 as a reference for Computer-Based Training (CBT), where participants will receive a certificate valid for submission to the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP).

The first presentation began by explaining the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the workplace, including the risks and hazards of pipe installation, but with the use of safety equipment and following SOPs, as well as paying attention to safety signs to avoid unwanted incidents for smooth work. This was followed by an explanation of the use of pipe measuring tools, work equipment, and the need for household connections. The training then commenced, with participants observing the use of PE pipe cutting tools and joining them using the Electrofusion method. Subsequently, the participants were invited to try it one by one while discussing it with the Vinilon team.

Seeing the positive response from the participants, Vinilon Group is also optimistic that this training will be beneficial for them in their professional careers. “With this training, we hope that what is conveyed can be understood and beneficial for all participants,” said Edward Pryadi, Sales Project Director at Vinilon Group.

One of the participants from PT PAM Jaya also expressed that this training is a good collaboration between Vinilon Group and PT PAM Jaya. “We also hope that in the future, we can collaborate even better,” said Okki Istiawan, Learning Support Supervisor, as one of the participants from PT PAM Jaya.

With this training, surely the participants’ skills will be sharpened, and their professionalism will be put to the test. See you at the next training event!
