HDPE Pipe

About HDPE Pipe

Vinilon’s HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) pipes are a modern thermoplastic piping solution designed for applications that demand exceptional resistance to extreme weather conditions, corrosion, abrasion, and chemical exposure. Manufactured using premium-grade polyethylene materials (PE-100 and PE-80), these pipes are characterized by their unique combination of being “Strong and Flexible.” This combination makes Vinilon HDPE pipes the preferred choice for pressurized clean water networks (PDAM) and natural gas distribution systems across Indonesia.

The reliability of this product has been proven in numerous national infrastructure projects. Vinilon HDPE pipes are produced under strict quality control and comply with SNI 4829.2 and ISO 4427-2 standards for potable water applications, as well as SNI 8884-2 for gas applications. Unlike iron pipes that are prone to corrosion, HDPE pipes offer a fully integrated (homogeneous) piping system, require minimal maintenance, and ensure safe, long-term performance.

Key Advantages
  • Long Term Investment with a Service Life of More Than 50 Years: Designed for a service life of up to 50 years under ideal conditions, making it a more efficient investment compared to metal pipes.
  • High Flexibility and Earthquake Resistance: Offers excellent flexibility, allowing the pipe to be bent to a certain radius and adapt to unstable or shifting soil conditions without cracking. Highly recommended for earthquake prone areas or unstable ground.
  • Corrosion Resistant and Chemical Resistant: Made from polyethylene material that is fully resistant to corrosion, decay, and chemical reactions from strong acids or alkalis. Suitable for installation in swampy soil or marine environments.
  • Food Grade Standard and Safe for Drinking Water: Manufactured from non toxic and odorless materials that do not alter the taste of water, ensuring safety for potable water distribution systems.
  • Smooth Inner Surface with Low Friction: The extremely smooth inner wall minimizes head loss and prevents sediment buildup or flow blockages.
  • Lightweight and Easy Installation: Significantly lighter than iron pipes and even buoyant in water, makes transportation, handling, and installation much easier, especially in challenging terrain.
Applications & Uses
  • Potable Water Networks (PDAM): Pressurized clean water distribution from main transmission lines to house connections.
  • Gas Distribution (City Gas): Natural gas and manufactured gas distribution for residential and industrial needs (Trusted by PGN).
  • Irrigation & Agriculture: Water supply for agricultural lands, resistant to fertilizers and chemical pesticides.
  • Industry & Mining: Transportation of industrial waste, slurry (mining mud), and corrosive chemicals.
  • Seawater Systems: Intake or outfall pipes in highly corrosive saltwater environments.
Leak-Proof Jointing Systems

To ensure the safety of water and gas flow, Vinilon HDPE Pipes utilize jointing methods that create permanent, leak-proof connections:

  • Butt Fusion (Welding): A method involving heating the pipe ends with a specialized welding machine and pressing them together until they fuse. The resulting joint is as strong as the pipe itself. This is the standard method for medium to large diameters (>63mm).
  • Electrofusion: Uses special fittings with built-in heating elements. Highly effective for connections in confined spaces or for repairing gas and water pipes requiring high precision.
  • Mechanical Joint (Compression Fitting): A practical solution without heating machines for small diameters (20mm – 110mm). It utilizes Compression Fittings(Couplers, Elbows, Tees) equipped with grip rings and rubber seals to prevent leaks.
