Monday, November 21, 2022, an earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 5.6 shook Cianjur City with an epicenter at coordinates 6.86° South Latitude; 107.01° East Longitude or to be precise, it is located in the Sukalarang area, West Java. From the results of the release submitted by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake that hit the City and Regency of Cianjur was a tectonic earthquake that occurred at a depth of 11 km.

 

As of Wednesday, November 23, 2022, data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that the number of victims affected by the earthquake in Cianjur was reported as 2,354 people, with details of 271 people dead, 2,043 people injured, and 40 people still alive. declared missing.

 

The morphology of the Cianjur City and Regency area, which is generally in the form of low to wavy plains and undulating to steep hills located in the southeastern part of Mount Api Gede, makes the impact of the earthquake disaster very strong.
